Batam – Batam Tourism Polytechnic (BTP) is officially designated as the first “Event Management / Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) industry accreditation center” in the Riau Islands. Accreditation is given directly by the Asia Pacific Institute for Event Management (APIEM).
One BTP Lecturer, Siska Madalia said, symbolically the certificate was given by the President of APIEM, Professor David Hind to the management of Batam Tourism Polytechnic.
“Accreditation is obtained after passing the document and facility inspection process as well as supporting professional experts,” he told Batam News, Monday (7/10/2019).
He said, the Event and MICE Industry is currently experiencing rapid development in Indonesia, this is marked by the election of Indonesia as a place and host of various international events.
“MICE activities in the country are generally concentrated in 10 major cities such as Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, Medan, Manado, Semarang and Batam,” Siska said.
He continued, therefore Batam Tourism Polytechnic in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Institute for Event Management (APIEM) to realize the progress of the event industry and MICE in Batam and Riau Islands.
In addition, APIEM also provides certification to 2 lecturers who take MICE and Event Management courses. “This is to encourage professionals and academics to participate in the event industry,” he said.
In addition to the accreditation award ceremony, APIEM President, David Hind also gave a seminar with the theme “The Art and Science of Creative Event Design” to approximately 300 BTP students, 27 September 2019.
“This seminar provides enormous benefits to students because they get information about the development of events in the world that are getting more and more spectacular,” he said
